The Hex Beam antenna

I believe this antenna was the best for my situation.  I wanted something that didn't need a huge tower and rotator as I live on a

small city lot.  It had to be a compromise but not too much of a compromise.  After much reading, I decided on the HexBeam.

My first ever HF contact was with N2DCB, George in Brooklyn New York

I LOVE this antenna.  It is lightweight, directional and performs very well and lower heights.  Ideally I should have it up

around 40 feet but with my setup the 20m element is at about 32 feet above the ground.  I don't have the room for radials

for a vertical and I think a vertical would be to noisy given I'm right in the city.  This antenna is very quiet.  So, in short

it has everything I was looking for in a antenna - lightweight (cheaper rotator to turn), performs well at low heights,

directional, smaller form factor (compared to a SteppIR, etc.) and overall cost.  It is not a cheap antenna, but then again the antenna

is the most important part of your station!  It can be homebrewed but I was able to purchase one and am VERY happy with it!
